Welcome to the 2016-2017 School Year!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As the principal at Sycamore Junior High I would like to welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year! I hope you have enjoyed your summer and are as excited as I am about the year ahead at Sycamore Junior High. It is a true honor to be a part of a district that is rich with tradition! As your principal, my goal is to continue to provide your children with a learning environment that grows him/her both academically and socially. With the support of our staff, our high academic standards and extracurricular programs will foster the development of a well-rounded adolescent.
Our staff has been hard at work preparing the facilities, curriculum and opening day celebrations to kick off the school year. The upcoming weeks are full of opportunities for your child to be introduced to his/her schedule of classes and tour the school in preparation for the first day. The administrative team looks forward to meeting you and your children at our schedule pickup event on either August 10th or 11th. This will be an opportunity for you and your child to finish school forms if needed, get schedules and locker assignments, get school pictures taken, drop off medications and immunization records, and explore the building. Families are encouraged to go to our Final Forms website and complete school forms prior to schedule pickup. We also look forward to the chance to spend some time with you at open house on August 23rd where you will have a chance to follow your child’s schedule and meet their teachers. I am excited for this year and look forward to all the new opportunities it will bring!

Sincerely,

Traci L. Rea, Ph. D.

Summer Reading Reminder!

We are only one month away from the start of school! That means only a few more weeks to finish your summer reading assignments!
This year, summer reading was distributed digitally to all students. Your student joined a summer reading Google classroom in their language arts class during the week of May 9th. Student's joined the class that corresponds with the language arts class that they scheduled to take next year. A copy of the summer assignments is attached in the links below. Please refer to your child's course selector to make sure that your child completes the assignment for the course they are registered to next fall. More information on summer assignments, Google classrooms, and fall activities, can be found here on the blog. We will continue to post information throughout the summer.
We look forward to another great year at SJH!

2016-2017 SJH PTO

Don't forget to join the SJH PTO for the 2016-2017 School Year!

Fill out this form and return to get your directory!

Click this Link for the Memberhsip Form
Click this Link for the Directory Form

Also, make sure your student and family are in the directory!
All information will be derived from the Sycamore Schools PTO database.  We currently have information for incoming 8th graders from last year's Junior High PTO Directory and for the incoming 7th graders from last year's Greene School PTO directory.  If your child was in these directories last year, this information will be used.
If you believe the Junior High PTO has all of your current contact information, you want your child to be in the directory again and you don’t want any changes made to contact information, you may disregard this form!   If you need to update anything, please use the directory form to update.

There will also be a booth at our schedule pickup on August 10th and 11th where you can sign up for the PTO.
