Summer Reading Assignments!

It is summer reading time at the junior high. This year, summer reading was distributed digitally to all students. Your student joined a summer reading Google classroom in their language arts class during the week of May 9th. Student's joined the class that corresponds with the language arts class that they scheduled to take next year. A copy of the summer assignments is attached in the links below. Please refer to your child's course selector to make sure that your child completes the assignment for the course they are registered to next fall. More information on summer assignments, Google classrooms, and fall activities, can be found here on the blog. We will continue to post information throughout the summer.
We look forward to another great year at SJH!

LAST DAY AWARDS AT SJH

Dear Parents,
It has been a year of outstanding students and great accomplishments.  On the last day of school we will hold our annual awards ceremony for students as well as our 8th grade promotion ceremony. Due to limited seating capacity in the auditorium, we are unable to accommodate parents attending.  We look forward to celebrating a year of excellence with your children!

What is Freshman Camp?

We are so excited to host the first ever Sycamore Freshman Camp on May 16th and 17th at Sycamore High School. The purpose of the two day event is to build relationships, provide a sense of comfort in knowing where key places are in our building, and to foster a growth mindset through collaboration and team-building. Lunch will be provided both days for our incoming freshman class, but if you child would prefer to bring a lunch, or order one from the JH Cafeteria, they are more than welcome.
Lastly, if you need to contact your child Monday or Tuesday, please call the front office of our high school.

We look forward to 2 amazing days!!

Athletes of the Week!

This week's Student Athletes of the Week are:

Krishna Suresh
Krishna is a great student, person and athlete. Krishna has played doubles for the Green tennis team throughout the season and did so with pride. Krishna doesn’t give up during a match if he’s losing and demonstrates tremendous sportsmanship. He is always one of the first players out of the locker room and ready to start warming up or to lend a helping hand. He is a hard-working young man on and off the court. Krishna takes initiative to pick up trash, put items away or help out his coach without even being asked. These attributes, in combination with continuously putting forth his best effort, is what makes him a great and well-rounded athlete. Krishna maintains honor roll status in addition to his participation sports and other extracurricular activities. His great attitude, maturity, manners, integrity and sense of humor are other demonstrations of Krishna’s fabulous character. I am thankful to have the chance to have Krishna on my team.

Ethan Wallace
The Sycamore Junior High Gold tennis team’s athlete of the week is Ethan Wallace. As a doubles player, Ethan has been a great fighter at both the net and baseline and strives to be the very best that he can be at all times during matches. He never gives up on any point and goes for every shot. He has a strong, deep serve with good angle and placement, which has let his partner put the ball away after a weak return. During changeovers, Ethan does an awesome job of listening to positive feedback and suggestions from his coach and then responding well to them on the court afterwards. Ethan shows maturity and a positive team spirit towards his teammates, doubles partners, coaches, opponents, and parents. Both on and off the court, he is always in ready position with a positive attitude and a growth mindset. Stay awesome, Ethan. Congratulations! Coach Stinson
